A viral put up has revealed an unbelievable new picture of the moon – but it surely wasn’t captured by NASA. “Probably the most ridiculously detailed” picture of Earth’s lunar neighbor was a two-year mission captured by two astrophotographers.

The 174-megapixel picture, which reveals the moon’s colours, craters and glowing aura in beautiful element, was first revealed on Reddit on Saturday. By means of Reddit and Instagram, Andrew McCarthy, identified for his breathtaking astrophotography expertise, teamed up with planetary scientist and fellow photographer Connor Matherne, who has been acclaimed for his putting and vibrant images of galaxies and nebulae.

The duo informed NPR that in a single night, McCarthy shot over 200,000 images of the moon from Arizona whereas Matherne shot 500 of his personal from Louisiana. They stacked the photographs and spent 9 months perfecting it to get the ultimate consequence. 

Matherne stated the picture is the best decision moon picture he has ever taken. He and McCarthy are promoting prints of the picture on McCarthy’s web site.
