MEMPHIS — One individual was fatally shot and a police officer was critically injured on Thursday afternoon in what the authorities described on social media as a “police-involved capturing” at a library in Memphis.
The Memphis Police Division, which has been beneath intense scrutiny after the beating that led to the loss of life of Tyre Nichols final month, mentioned that the one that was shot had been pronounced lifeless on the scene. The officer was taken to a hospital in “extraordinarily crucial” situation, the division mentioned.
The police mentioned the capturing passed off after officers had responded to a name on the library at 12:32 p.m.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, a state company that scrutinizes police shootings, mentioned on Twitter that the native district legal professional, Steven J. Mulroy, had requested its brokers to analyze the capturing.
